West Coast Customs honored us in 2017 by featuring Cosmichrome on three builds!
A visit to West Coast Customs is always exciting. You never know which stars you might see there not to mention the stunning cars they create. Their shop has really grown over the years and their projects get more amazing. This year the Mitsubishi Motors 100th anniversary inspired a build replicating the first Mitsubishi car ever made. The challenge for Cosmichrome with this build was to simulate the original brass trim on the 1917 Model A Mitsubishi.
We made another trip to Burbank after the SEMA Show to help with a rare 1957 Cadillac featuring green tinted Cosmichrome trim. We also coated a guitar with the same color. While working on the 57 Cadillac we recoated a few trim parts for a new model Kia in copper tinted Cosmichrome. Copper and rose gold are the two most popular colors for Cosmichrome.

Create your own colors for your motorcycle
You can create your own custom colors by combining Cosmichrome colors. Here our customer used a layer of red then a layer of black to create a deep red color. There results are beautiful.
You can clean our base coat!
The latest update to the Cosmichrome base coat features a fantastic new feature. If someone accidentally touches the base coat you clean our spray chrome base coat with distilled water and a damp paper towel. Until now the part would dave to be sanded and sprayed with base coat again. It’s simple and easy.
If someone accidentally touches the base coat after it is dry you can clean off the fingerprints without any harm or damage to the final finish. All you have to do is wipe the fingerprints off with a soft paper towel that has been wet with distilled water. Then re-flame the base coat and proceed with plating as usual. This base coat is also extremely easy to apply and is very resistant to runs and drips. As usual the adhesion of the metal and top coat are exceptional.
This new feature solves one of the more demanding requirements of applying spray chrome coatings. Typically their base coats are very sensitive to accidental touches and other types of minor contamination. This would often lead to frustration when an curious coworker would decide to handle and inspect the parts being coated. Now one can just clean the fingerprints off rather than having to sand and reapply the base coat.
Additionally Cosmichrome base coat is still the only base coat that can’t be over dried. The dryer it is the better the adhesion of the metal and top coat. Other products are much more sensitive to over drying and loss of adhesion.
You can let our base coat dry all weekend or even all week and there will be no loss of metallic adhesion.
As always, Cosmichrome is the only spray chrome product guaranteed not to turn yellow. That is just one of the many reasons it is the spray chrome of General Motors, Andretti Autosport and West Coast Customs to name a few.

One of our customers was commissioned to spray chrome these very large Lady Gaga statues for her Artpop album introduction. The Cosmichrome was tinted to provide the gold and blue finishes. The Cosmichrome spray chrome was applied by Coat of Chrome.Coat of Chrome are experts at coating large objects. The amount of preparation and planning for this project was very challenging and had to be completed with a very tight deadline.This project was the result of a collaboration with sculptor Jeff Koons. Mr. Koons is one of the world’s leading modern artists. His work typically sells for millions of dollars.

Base Coat and Top Coat Updated for 2014
- Our newest base coat is so slick that it appears as if these valve covers are floating above the table.
These chrome valve covers were spray chromed by our customer Sacramento Chrome and Paint https://sacchromepaint.net using our latest Cosmichrome base coat and top coat. They appear to be disappearing into the table or made of glass because the finish is so perfectly smooth and the color so accurate.
We have been able to significantly accelerate the drying of the top coat so your parts are ready to ship sooner.

Cosmichrome and Andretti Autosport

Cosmichrome replaced a competing product that wasn’t able to meet the rigorous environment of racing. Haaga Vocational College and Tavastia Vocational College both offer Cosmichrome training as part of their surface treatment technology curriculum to their Finnish students. Students at both colleges can receive Cosmichrome training as part of their studies.

Have you noticed the American Idol Cosmichrome microphones? Perhaps you thought they were electroplated. In fact, they are sprayed with Cosmichrome. Cosmichrome coated microphones appear on the hit TV regularly and have been used by the show for years. Several of our customers coat microphones for manufacturers and for the music acts themselves. The microphones can be tinted with our transparent dyes to produce custom chrome colors like gold or black.
